Back in 2013 we did our very first Halloween camping party. Riley joined in on the fun this year and alternating years after.

You see I discovered SkyNet had sent an infiltrator canine to my home! Those SkyNet sneaks disguised this infiltrator as my dear pup Riley. Naturally he had to look the part of this deadly machine, but really I couldn’t exactly peal his scalp back to see the metal. So I made him a leather jacket and got him a gun to complete his ensemble! He was a hit.
Terminators made their return know this year!
Simply Spooky
We decked out the woods with mason jar lanterns and pumpkins winding a path through the woods. Cranked the tunes, sent the kids on a scavenger hunt for missing body parts and stuffed out faces with snacks and goodies! The kids all smashed the pinata before we ended the night with a firework show for the ages.

The next morning, there were a few under the weather adults. As we cleaned up we blew up pumpkins for the animals to feed off of when we left. Please if you leave pumpkins behind for the wildlife, make sure you don’t leave the carved pumpkins whole. Deer and other creatures tend to get their heads stuck in the holes and they get scared. We like to blow up our pumpkins with bear bangers!
A Frightful Feast
Now food, oh my goodness the food! We had tons of it. Simple beef dips were our dinner this year and then we had snacks and sweets galore!
- Monster Munch: popcorn with Reece’s pieces, sour gummy worms, OMGs chocolate and war heads all mixed in
- Graveyard brownies: brownies with chocolate icing, oreo crumbs, candy tombstones, candy bones, and gummy worms
- Shrimp Skulls: hollowed out foam head with crushed ice in the cranium, shrimp layered in a circle with a dish in the middle with a dipping sauce
- Meringue bones: simple meringue piped into bone shapes
- Spider cookies: peanut butter cookies with a chocolate kiss pressed in to the center for baking, legs get piped on with chocolate after cookies cool
- Vomiting Pumpkin Veggie tray: carved out mini pumpkin with ranch dressing pouring from it mouth onto the tray, veggies arranged around the pumpkin and dip

Spooktacular Concoctions
Drinks were another hit of the night. They flowed for kids (Witches Brew) and for the adults, a simple shot of vodka in that Witches Brew does wonders! Top it off with a Black Magic Jello shot and you got a rockin party happening!
The jello shots looks like magic but we so simple and tasted SO GOOD, that they became a must have at our halloween parties each year afterwards. Thank you Bread, Booze, bacon!

We sort of threw this trip together without thinking much about a theme. When you do select a theme the decor and vibe just slide together so smoothly. When there is no theme, keep it simple, keep it spooky, and keep it universal so all costumes pop!
What is you favorite Halloween treat/drink? We would love to try something new!
