“My love for my Joker was stronger than their madhouse walls.” – Harley Quinn
There are some days where crazy meets crazy and a love story….albeit a deranged one…takes shape. Such is the story of Dr. Harleen Quinzel (Harley Quinn) and The Joker. Now, I am one of those people who has always loved the villains in movies and comics. I was never the girl who watched the movies to see Batman save the day. I always wanted to know what the villains were doing! So it was a natural leap for me that Riley and I dress the part of Harley and Joker for Halloween!

This little costume was so much much fun to make! The top hat and vest, the purple velour jacket and the little yellow bandana. It was just so fun!
I bought a little clip in hat at the dollar store and covered it in purple velour fabric. It was light and non-combersome for Riley to wear so he had no problem with it at all! I did add a string to tie under his chin to keep the hat from tugging on his fur too much with the clips as well.
The yellow bandana was another dollar store find. It made for a super easy alternative to a shirt or bow tie. Again with comfort being optimal here for this pampered pup.
The most work for this costume was his coat and vest. I made this all as one piece by splicing a couple patterns together. It is fully functional with a button closure down the front of the vest. The coat has a collar though it is not very noticeable in this pic and coat tails! My inspiration was definitely from the classic Joker appearance.

My costume got bought for this particular Halloween. I spent all my time learning how to sew Riley’s that I ran out of time for my own! So Arkham Asylum was happy to loan me Harley’s last costume change for the occasion. I had to find a bat for the occasion though and that was surprisingly more difficult than I thought it would be.
Have you done a partner costume with your pup? We would love to hear from you!

There is no Harley without her Joker.
