Today was a wet one! We had rain and big gusting wind. It was not a day we were thrilled to adventure to the mountains in…though we were planning a trip to Teapot Hill. The Teapots will have to wait for another day I’m afraid.

So what do we do when the weather is less than stellar? We find someplace local to explore! Today took us to the wonderous Fort Langley where we walked the streets, visited a few shops and took in some lunch. It was wet, it was windy, and it was beautiful!
When we arrived the street parking was already filling up for the day, and we got here early for shop openings. We lucked out with a spot right infront of the Langley Community Hall making us pretty central to everything.
Those of you not from the lower mainland of BC may recognize this building from many Hallmark Christmas movies. It is one of their very frequent places to film here in British Columbia.

Today the Community Hall played host to the iMade pop up artisan market. It is filled with all local handmade items for sale from the vedors who have poured their souls into their work. This was the market’s first weekend of the season so it wasn’t as busy as it gets towards christmas. The iMade market runs again November 20-21, 2021, December 5, 2021 and December 12, 2021 for those of you who want to take a boo!

Lunch at The Trading Post Eatery
We wandered over to to the Trading Post Eatery to take advantage of their backyard patio for some lunch. And my goodness what a lunch it was! These people do the backyard patio right in the fall for sure! We we seated at a picnic table with a heater and doggy dish and it was perfect. And the Spiced Apple Sangria? To die for! Check out more of our experience at the Trading Post on Wednesday when our full review of this delicious lunch is posted.
You must give them a try and they have another Dog Friendly patio out in Abbotsford! This restaurant is quickly becoming one of my favourites.
We wandered through the village for a good 2 hours today, checking out all the little shops and knocking off a few Christmas presents from our list too. Most of the shops in Fort Langley are dog friendly which makes visiting this particular are so much more enjoyable for Riley!

Remple Mercantile
Enter the Remple Mercantile for a throw back in time to old post boxes, records, gas pumps, and signage. There are some seriously cool pieces in here for the collector! We saw some really cool old Coca-Cola dispensers, an iron horses and buggy and some awesome old records. Bring our the credit cards to buy anything but if you’re looking for some neat old history this is the place to go!

The Gardening Circle
This store is the place to go to find some unique hand made, and commercially made, ornaments and seasonal decor. We picked up a couple ornaments to tag along with some Christmas presents this year. They also have a fairy garden section with little dogs and cats if you are inclined to create one! I found some cute camping signs and old wrought iron items that would be adorable in a cabin or cottage too!

The Happy Kitchen
Do you have a cook or baker in your life? I can guarantee you will find something for them in this store! They have all sorts of things I wish I could have in my kitchen. Different cheese boards, a mass wall of gadgets (including those fun little piggy character ones). They even have some locally made pre-pepped meal mixes for sale! Those make great gifts for people who love a variety of foods but struggle finding time to cook every night. Want something specific to Christmas? They have a sock room and Christmas Salt/Pepper shakers sets too!

We hit up a few other stores before calling our tour of Fort Langley complete for the day. This strip also boasts an amazing Chocolatier, Riley was not allowed in to that one so we skipped it this time. Next time he will have to wait in the car when I grab some of those delectable cocoa treats!
We also grabbed a locally roasted coffee from Republica Coffee Roasters for our way home!
We love to adventure out to Fort Langley when we just want a leisurely walk with minimal effort. It makes for a nice rest day when we still want to get out.
Fort Langley is also home to the Fort to Fort trail which leads you out to the original Fort Langley. You can also explore the historic Fort langley and take a step back into the 1800s to see what life may have been like. I am told they offer an overnight stay during the summer months but keep in mind, Fido is asked to stay home when you enter the Historic Site.
