Well, as many of you I’m sure know, finding restaurants that will let you bring your furry companion can be challenging. And often, those that will let you bring Fido, don’t offer the best selection of grub. Riley and I would like to introduce you to the Fort Langley Taphouse and Eatery by Trading Post brewing. We have eaten here a few times now and have yet to be disappointed! Our first visit was actually to their Abbotsford location during the summer.
Trading Post has styled the eatery much like you would see in a modern tasting room with a nod to the industrial elements (particularly in their lighting features). But what really sells this place for us is that patio. The Langley location has hand made picnic benches in their back lot under white tents. They have strung Edison lights throughout and for fall/winter have put a propane heater at each table to keep their guests warm through their meals. The Abbotsford location has full bar height tables and stools with a beautiful wrap around planter.
The picnic tables have several places to tether your leashes too and they have doggie bowls of water available for each table for Fido. The flooring is all artificial turf, so its more comfortable for a pooch paw. Riley approves!

The Grub
While the selection is not huge, they definitely know how to cook their food. I’ve had both the Canadiana Burger and the Braised Bison Dip and both are some of the juiciest meats I have ever had at a restaurant. The flavors just explode in every bite! And that Au Jus? I need the recipe and they won’t share it (I did ask!). Next time I’ll try one of the Chicken sandwiches.
A couple others in our party of eaters had the Sweet Heat Pork Rinds, Bison Tacos, and the Truffle Cheese Fries. They have been raving about those too!
The Abbotsford location had delicious burgers, though they needed a little sprite in their sangria. But the Langley location? My goodness, I could drink their Spiced Apple Sangria all day long! It was delicious. Like, I need to make this every fall delicious.

Now there is one things that makes and breaks a pub – THE FRIES!
Have you ever eaten a delicious burger only to have one French fry and cringe? The bland, tasteless, soggy feeling of potatoes in your mouth? Well, that is NOT what you get here!
The Trading Post has some amazing fries and they are consistent between locations. They are perfect golden crispy goodness with just the right amount of sea salt and pepper across them. Perfection is these fries!

The Drinks
Now I’ve only had a few drinks at the trading post and some of their seasonal drinks are to die for is what I have learned.
Their Spiced Apple Sangria (pictured left) is probably my favorite sangria at this moment. Crispy apples mixed in with that ice and the cranberries…mmmmmm yummy. A perfect mix of citrus, wine, and brandy! The next time I go I need to bring people with me so we can get a pitcher.
This particular sangria is like drinking fall in a glass.
We also tried one of their summer sangria’s in the Abbostford location, aside from needing a slash of sprite it was another delicious drink!

The Verdict
A 5 star visit to the Trading Post Eatery! Riley approves the patios and loves being at the table with us for our meals. When we are eating he stays under the table/chairs but in Langley he is able to sit with us to enjoy the laughter and drinks after a meal.
Do you have a favorite eatery that Fido can join you at? Shoot us a line and maybe they will be featured in the next restaurant review!
