Christmas Day: A first Christmas story

This spoiled pup knows exactly when Christmas is coming! You think dog’s can’t tell what day it is? Think again! Riley knows when Christmas is coming. He knows when its time to put up the tree. He knows presents are coming on Christmas day. And he knows some of those presents are just for him!

On Christmas eve, our boy was dog tired. He crashed on that couch so fast it was like he never slept the night before.

Then came Christmas morning. This pup had no idea what to think. All the lights, the people, the smells, the activity. He didn’t know what to do! So he barked. And he played. And he ran from one person to the next begging to play and have someone tell him what was happening. And then he saw it.

Santa had come and brought a stocking just for Riley! A Santa’s Littlest Helper stocking stuffed to the brim. My goodness what an expression on his face. Riley could have lit up our whole tree he had such a big smile. A stocking and presents, he hit the jackpot!

So there we were opening our stockings and Riley takes the bear out the top of his and goes back for more! He wants to know what’s in the rest of his stocking too!

He burries his little nose all the way into the foot of that stocking to pull out the treats and the toys! He pulled out a rubber kong, some yummy goodies, a rope, a rubber bone and a few more tennis balls.

After stuffing himself with turkey dinner our boy finally had enough excitement and curled up on the sofa. His first Christmas was over and he got spoiled. He got snuggled and loved, turkey and toys.

He even played Rock Band with us kids and tried his paw at some vocals. He sang pretty good all things considered!

Now, every year, he tells us exactly when to put up that tree. And each year he pulls all his toys out of his stocking. He dives for the stocking on Christmas morning….and every morning leading up to Santa’s arrival if its out.

How does your furry pal celebrate the holidays?

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas from Serena and Riley Adventures!

Happy Tails!
