We have a lot of fun finding all sorts of stores near us that Riley can shop at. This season we visited several nurseries that turn into Christmas stores for the month of December and my goodness, there was one that took Christmas shopping to a whole new level!
Potter’s Nursery and Garden Centre
19158 48 Avenue, Surrey BC, Canada

We walked in the door and were immediately transported to the North Pole! Santa and snowmen, reindeer and trees were everywhere. If you have a few last minute gifts to buy, definitely hit up Potters! There is something here for everyone – not just those with a green thumb.
The front entry is full of all sorts of Christmas home decor for every taste. There’s the traditional red and green, the bright white and simple designs, and then the forest animals and birch bark decor. Riley of course had to sniff everything he could reach, and the hop up on that bench to see the polar bear!
As you follow the snowflakes on the ground you are guided through the entry into the store.
For the Christmas Entertainer and Decorator:

Do you have a hot cocoa lover on your list? There is an adorable Snowman cookie jar and cocoa mugs that are just too sweet!
How about a penguin to serve your appies? He’s ready with a tray!
For your friend that needs that little extra oomph on their mantel? Stocking hangers and decorative Santa’s are perfect and simple additions that are minimal clutter and most festive!
For your Foodie Friend who had everything but time:
Edible gifts are often well loved and appreciated by those who prefer minimalist living in small spaces…and those who love food!

These pre-made soups are an easy way to get around the culinary world for a quick weeknight dinner. Each one is packaged with everything but the protein (if applicable) and the liquid. Add water and eat!
Is there a jam/marmalade lover on your list? How about creating a little sampler box of a few different flavors?
Have a bar-b-que lover who enjoys supporting local? Get a few different flavors and a card that explains the purchases support a local shelter!
For that Kitchen Gadget lover on your list:

Potter’s really has for everyone! An entire kitchen section of gadgets and space saving collapsible kitchen solutions!
Have a honey lover? Get them something sweet from the bees! Honey, bee mugs, wax bowl covers, and more are available for your special little Bee!
Got a coffee drinker? No? How about tea? Not sure what they drink – no problem! Start a special gift with a mug that has their occupation (if they love what they do!), fill it with some chocolates and a gift card for an easy treat that won’t break the bank! They have everything from Nurses, to teachers, to moms and dads, so there’s a mug for everyone!
What about the pet lovers on your list? There’s lots for them too!

Sometimes you get that one person on your list that would prefer you shop for their fur-baby instead of them. Yet, you still want something for them to open that is not for the four legged.
There’s a whole wall of socks with dogs and cats on them beside all sorts of fun little trinkets and frames. Pick the one that calls out to you and I’m sure they will get a chuckle out of it.
Got a gamer or child on your list? Or how about just needing a little extra for that stocking?

Games and puzzles can be great family gifts! Potters has a whole cube with just puzzles and games. Break it out under the tree and put it to use before the evening comes to a close!
Need a little extra something for that stocking? Pick up a little plushie or some magic cards as you head to the cashier!
How about looking for something to add to that mug for your friend who loves gnomes? There’s a wall of Gnomes to choose from! From small ornaments to 2 ft tall wooden Gnomes and ladders.
Peanuts and the Red Baron for the win!

Now who doesn’t love Charlie Brown Christmas and Snoopy? This was Riley’s favorite sniffing section – he may like Snoopy!
Ornaments and snowglobes, Peanuts nativity, and trains. There’s all sorts of Peanuts decor here to choose from! Add to a stocking or into a Christmas box or mug as a little something special this Christmas.
Take a detour through the North Pole…

In the middle of the store is this dark aisle of beautiful snowy wonderland. While there isn’t any of those big blow up lawn ornaments, there is plenty of free standing garden decor, deer and snowmen.
Take a stoll and you may find something that surprises you for that person you can’t think of anything for!
Still struggling? Don’t see anything that fits that last person on your list? Try something fun…

Visit Mouse-Town for an alternative take on the traditional Christmas village. With a water wheel ferris wheel, rope ladders, and lights, these mice are living the life!
Fully mobile train and functioning elevator are just some of the fun pieces to see and refresh your mind. You might just find some unexpected inspiration!

And when you still are stuck and that gift card just doesn’t seem enough, try adding a framed photo for a personal touch to any gift. The receiver will love that you took the time to think of them. Pictures are personal touches that seem to be forgotten in our digitally evolving world. And while it is nice to have our memories digitally preserved, sometimes its just special to have that one photo framed on your mantle for the holidays.
We enjoyed our trip to Potter’s and found a the last few items for those final people on our list during this trip! Hopefully you can to!
