Here comes Santa Claus: A journey down Santa Claus Lane

We tried to revisit Candy Cane Lane this year, and we were disappointed. Gone were the big light displays on the lawns. Gone was the candy cane glow we remembered and here was a few lights across the roof. This was not what we had hoped for. Then we saw a post on our neighborhood facebook page about Santa Claus Lane!

We saw this post that Santa would be coming down from the North Pole to visit this evening and thought ‘what a perfect opportunity to get Santa pictures!’

We told Riley that Santa was going to be on our walk and he barked…and barked…and barked. Oh did he bark. Apparently he really wanted to go see Santa! So we dressed up in our winter best, Riley in his new winter coat and I in my red wool, and we were off.

We wandered down the road from our home and twisted and turned until we saw this bright glow coming from the lane. As we came around the corner there was this beautiful North Pole display stretching around the home and all up the walls!

Such lights! Such joy! Such a North Pole wonder!

And there was Santa in his glorious red suit. And this excited pup all of a sudden got a little bashful. He sauntered over to Santa slowly and sniffed his boots. Santa reached down and Riley greeted his new friend with a lick on the glove!

Santa asked Riley what he wanted for Christmas and took a few pictures. Such a wonderful joy it was to see Santa! A Jolly Old Elf with a joyful Ho Ho Ho to share.

In a time where the last few years have been a strain on many, it was beautiful to see there is still such wonder in a small community. Such hearts and care invested into giving smiles to families.

We visited with his helpers for a moment before making our way over to the rest of the lane.

Row upon row of lighted houses with blow up displays of snowmen, Yoda, Santa, elves and reindeer. It was a magical walk that was made even more festive with the snow softly falling around us!

While we did not get the Candy Cane Lane we had hoped to revisit, we found a new Lane that made out lights night a very special experience. Thank you to this beautiful family for making such a special place for Santa to come visit our little neighborhood!

Take a moment this season to appreciate your neighbors. Who knows, maybe one of them has a special connection to Santa and they’ll call him down from the North Pole to see your street next year!

Merry Christmas!
