Pup-tastic Picnics: Taves Estate Cidery

What do we get up to on a hot, lazy day? We hit up a local farm for some fresh Apple Cider and a Pup Flight!

You’ve probably seen a couple of posts about Taves Farm on here. You see, Taves has taken Agri-Tourism to a whole different level. They offer something new every season for every one – even for your pup! So, there is always something to check out for the whole family.

This summer (and last, and probably next), Taves Estate Cidery set up for some Pup Picnics. These pup picnic tickets came with flights for both the hooman and the pup. Little Skye was very impressed they thought of her!

Most people think apple cider and figure it’s just whatever…not so at Taves!

The Pup flight consisted of a toy, some dehydrated pork, freeze-dried chicken, apple crisps, and a Bojito! Now, Skye’s favorite was definitely the Bojito. A mixture of Bone broth and whipped cream, topped with a little doggie biscuit.

And for the hoomans? Well, you get your choice of a hard flight or a soft flight. For the extra $6 for the soft flight, we got both!

The hard flight has 2 options (dry or semi-dry/sweet). We got the semi-dry and loved it! From the bright Billy’s Best Apple Cider, to the warm Roosters Red Currant, to be delightfully crisp Ram’s Black Currant and the light summer supper of Nanny’s Nicest. This was a flight that took you through every stage of

And the soft flight? We if alcohol is not your thing or you just don’t feel like a boozy afternoon, the soft flight will not disappoint either!

The Classic Apple Cider is a Taves staple. It is the standard go-to and delicious! Then you get to warm up with the Spiced apple cider (a winter favorite of mine!) before celebrating with a bright sparkling cider. And finally, because it is summer…finish off with a Cider Slushy. The slusgy was our favorite on the soft flight. Light and bright and oh so cool – it was perfect for the 31°C weather!

And while we enjoyed our tasty cider and Bojito, we got visitors! Goats are wandering around in between the sections of the patio for your attention. They really hope you’ll buy some goat feed and feed them! There is an access pannel, so you can go in and pet the goats or feed them, but leave the pup outside the pen, please.

While you are enjoying your cider, you have no shortage of entertainment either! With lawn games and tabletop connect four, you are guaranteed to be entertained. Throwing stars at the bullseye on one end of the yard, lawn chairs under unbrellas at the other, boggle, ladderball – they’ve got it all!

And if you’re really into it, be inspired to release a butterfly on the butterfly chair!

We love Taves for their dynamic offerings of activities. And the best part – they always look to include pups in their events! There is always something new to do.

The Pup Picnics run every second sunday through the summer. Watch their website and facebook for upcoming events!

Happy Tails!
